The SPE- GCS gives over $150,000 annually in scholarships.  The annual SPE-GCS Awards and Scholarship Banquet recognizes the high school seniors and college students who have received SPE-GCS or Communities in Schools – Houston scholarships for the 2021-22 academic year.  The scholarship recipients and their parents are invited to attend.  This is a fantastic opportunity to welcome outstanding students into the petroleum industry and to make a positive impression on members of the community.  In addition, this event also recognizes our SPE Gulf Coast Section award winners and Gulf Coast North America Region award winners.  Because the SPE-GCS Awards Banquet honors the accomplishments of our scholarship recipients, these recipients and their parents are invited to attend the banquet free of charge.  Company table sponsorships make this banquet possible.

Here's the sponsor invitation letter.

Tim Duncan is the President and CEO and a founder of Talos Energy Inc. (NYSE: TALO). Headquartered in Houston, Texas and founded in 2012, Talos Energy is a leading offshore energy company focused on offshore oil and gas exploration and production as well as the development of future carbon capture and storage opportunities in the United States Gulf Coast, Gulf of Mexico and offshore Mexico.  Talos became a public company in May 2018 following its merger with Stone Energy, transitioning from a private company initially funded with $600 million of capital commitments by two leading global investment firms.  Talos is the third company that Mr. Duncan has built with partners over the last twenty years, following the success of Gryphon Exploration and Phoenix Exploration.  Since inception, Talos has grown from 5 original employees to over 400 employees and is today one of the largest independent producers in the basin. Talos has been named a Houston Chronicle Top Workplace for the last nine consecutive years.

Mr. Duncan is the immediate past Chairman (2021-2022) and past Vice Chair (2020-2021) of the National Offshore Industries Association (NOIA), a leading offshore industry association.  He serves on the board of directors of Chesapeake Energy Corporation (NYSE:CHK) and the American Cancer Society CEOs Against Cancer Houston Chapter.  He also serves on various academically focused boards including the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council and the University Foundation Board at Mississippi State University.  Mr. Duncan earned a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Mississippi State University, where he was honored in 2012 as a Distinguished Fellow of the College of Engineering.  He also earned an MBA from the Bauer Executive Program at the University of Houston.
