For the first time Society of Petroleum Engineers-Gulf Coast Section Data Analytics Study Group is organizing a Data Science Convention - a one-day conference focused on Energy Professionals in the upstream Oil&Gas industry with interests towards emerging field of data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. This year, the conference aims to provide a overview towards the application of data science in upstream Oil&Gas industry, as well as networking opportunities to an estimated 200 engineering professionals, data science technologist and students.


The conference will be held at Norris Convention Center, Houston, TX, on Thursday April 19th. This year’s theme is Transforming the Upstream O&G Industry with Advanced Data Science Solutions; our keynote speaker is Gregory P. (Greg) Leveille, CTO for ConocoPhillips. Agenda will include presentations from leading professionals, major operators, suppliers, technology start-ups and academia to showcase applications and advancements of big data analytics in the Oil & Gas industry. 


We will also be hosting startup and technology companies who will be show casing amazing and emerging products at their exhibit*. Lunch and coffee breaks (covered in your registration fees) will provide you ample networking opportunities with speakers, professionals and technologists.

Gregory P. (Greg) Leveille is chief technology officer for ConocoPhillips. Leveille began his career with Conoco in 1984 in Lafayette, La. and has lived and worked in New Orleans, London, Aberdeen, Houston, Anchorage, Farmington and Singapore. During the first decade of his career, Leveille held various exploration, development and operations geology assignments, working both in the United States and northwest Europe. Beginning in 1995, Leveille held leadership positions in exploration, planning and portfolio management, asset management, project management, technology, business management, operations and commercial. Leveille was president, global LNG and Asia‐Pacific commercial before moving to the technology organization in May 2011. Leveille is a member of the Executive Committee of the Unconventional Resources Technology Conference (URTeC) and has held leadership roles in several United Way fundraising campaigns. Leveille was born in Pennsylvania in 1959. He earned a Bachelor and Master of Science in geology from San Diego State University.
