Welcome to The Chair’s Corner, December edition, I’m excited and proud to report that the 22nd Annual Sporting Clays Tournament was a total success! I cannot thank enough to the entire team of volunteers that worked on it, led by Prue Smith (BP) and Jeremy Viscomi (Pika Industries), thanks to their efforts and leadership the event raised a total of $28K for the GCS, what a milestone!
I’m also very glad to report that thanks for the efforts of our Community Services Committee, led by Sherry Oyagha and Jeannie Chung-Chow, Aramco will be donating a total of $10K to support their outreach to Elementary Schools, STEM activities, Career fair and Houston Food
Bank amongst others. We truly thank them for their support to our section.
On another topic, we had Tim Stephens, Chair for Innovate, present their plan for 2023, I can only tell you that you will not want to miss any of their events! it is a great platform for the O&G Entrepreneurs to showcase their companies, products to the industry and potential investors.
They are in need of volunteers, so if you would like to be part of the team, just let us know.
Also, our Scholarship Chair, Nami Southern, which is part of the
Education Committee, has done a great job with the scholarship process, in the coming weeks, we will be sharing some great news with our community. There are plans to grow this Committee, and actively interact with the Colleges, Mid Schools to promote our industry, and also revamp the Internship Program, where GCS partners with O&G companies to facilitate internships, if you have a passion and the time, we would also gladly welcome you into the Committee.
On this edition, I would also like to thank NexTier, Liberty Oilfield Services, Ovintiv and Corelabs for supporting the GCS different Study Groups and Committees to host their monthly events, this means a lot for the section, thanks !!!
Regarding our Membership Committee, we successfully hosted the Appreciation Event on December 8 th , at the Blaffer Museum located at the UoH. It was a fun night, full of art and great vibes and camaraderie, we had a total of 67 people attending the event. We will keep you
updated on upcoming activities. Thanks to Alex Martinez, Deborah Martogi and Adonis Ichim for their support.
Finally, I want to wish all of our Community a Blessed and Merry Christmas! and a Happy New Year!
We will have our first 2023 BOD meeting on January 19th at the SPE office, at 10am, come join us, remember to RSVP as we will have lunch catered. I highly encourage everyone to come to the meetings in person or virtually to interact with the board members, and to bring up any issues you or your Study Group or Committee is facing.
Until next Chair’s Corner,
