Description

While multiple penetrations of the Lower Tertiary / Wilcox Formation had been achieved, its commercial potential remained in question.  The Chevron Jack Well Test, executed during the summer of 2006 in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, helped more clearly define the magnitude of this reservoir.  By utilizing a unique combination of new technologies and existing high-pressure equipment packages from Schlumberger Testing and Completion Services, the Schlumberger and Chevron well test team exposed the vast opportunities that lie ahead for the industry in the development of the Lower Tertiary.  Participation in this operational theater requires experience and technology applicable to a reservoir at 28,000 ft TD in 7,000 ft of water with a circa 20,000 psi bottomhole pressure.  Considerable time, innovation, and teamwork were required to plan and execute a well test in such extreme conditions.  The Jack Well Test may be the first stepping-stone of many required to thoroughly evaluate and develop this vast reservoir.  Schlumberger and the industry must rely on continued innovation, knowledge-sharing, and bold leadership while stepping through the door of opportunity to the Lower Tertiary.

Please register early online in order to facilitate the Northside Study Group to better plan and streamline the luncheon.  Walk-ins will be accepted on a space-available basis.  Please arrive early as walk-ins are seated on a first come-first served basis.  Thank You!
