Description

What is going on downhole? This is one of the most common questions asked at the rigsite and in the office whenever a bottom hole assembly fails to perform as expected. If this question is only asked after a failure occurs, the opportunity to optimize the drilling performance and avoid costly non-productive time has been missed. Having real-time access to a full suit of downhole measurements and diagnostics is critical in order to understand the downhole environment.

This presentation will focus on examples of various downhole phenomena, which can have detrimental effect on the drilling performance, drillstring integrity and bit performance. The presentation will discuss explanations of the underlying mechanisms of these phenomena and case histories documenting real-time and post-well solutions designed to identify and overcome these critical situations.
