Description
ABSTRACT OF PRESENTATION
Geothermal energy is a promising source of energy that is being pursuing on several fronts by several companies, including Fervo Energy of Houston.
In May,2023, Fervo tested its first pair of parallel drilled and completed horizontal wells at its Project Red test in north central Nevada. The test validated the company’s core hypothesis: oil and gas drilling and completions technology can be successfully applied in geothermal reservoirs to predictably produce enough hot fluid to generate round-the-clock clean power.
Fervo Energy has begun completion operations of Project Cape in Utah and has implemented a lot of learnings from Project Red in Nevada. These are geothermal projects designed to generate electricity using horizontal well completion technology from the oil & gas industry, including hydraulic fracturing.
This presentation will be a review of the results and key learnings of this technology development.
It will provide a quick comparison of operational results of both projects and the increased efficiencies that have been achieved. Learnings from the initial project helped lead the technology development and deployment of various tools used in the well completion work.

Registration & Walk-ins
All attendees are encouraged to register and pay online for this event. This is a more efficient means of registering for the event and enables the registration process at the meeting to move much faster. Walk-in space is available on a seat-limited basis at a fee more than the on-line registration fee.
NOTE:
To secure the health and safety of all attendees, SPE-GCS will apply the following Covid-19 safety protocol guidelines:
- Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer will be available on site at the registration table
- Attendees who are sick will not be permitted to enter the event. This is without exception.
