Description
ABSTRACT OF PRESENTATION
THIS WILL BE A JOINT MEETING WITH THE HOUSTON CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE.
A new tension has emerged in the oil and gas industry – the typical exploration and production (E&P) company has plentiful access to capital and the typical oilfield service (OFS) company has limited access to capital. Up until now this has not been a problem, because OFS companies had spare capacity and international drilling has been slow to grow.
But in 2024, international and offshore drilling is projected to grow almost everywhere, while US land drilling is flat. If an OFS board has $1 to invest and has both a US land business and an international business, who gets the dollar? That investment choice is being made right now in board rooms all over the world and will heavily influence the cost and ease of drilling a well in the U.S. in 2024.
