Description
The presentation will cover the science behind the deployment and application of the Local Expander™ Annular Squeeze Tool commonly referred to as the LET. Cement densification and applied casing expansion near to the wellbore are used to aid in the mitigation and removal of micro annuli in P&A and zonal Isolation applications. This non-explosive minimally invasive tool and method uses hoop straining to create uniform casing expansion via E-line.
We will explain the LET’s pipe expansion tool theory, give practical examples of this complex process in which hoop straining and bending are the predominant deformation mechanisms. This deformation is inhomogeneous along the pipe circumference due to the cyclic symmetry in the tool geometry. This induced deformation is applied in a precise and novel way to repair micro annular leakage and emission losses that may reach the surface
We will conclude our presentation by discussing additional applications for the removal of out of zone communications.
