With the recent downturns and Covid, our industry has been forced to find new and innovative ways to economically develop oil & gas resources. The PBS 2022 continues to provide a networking forum to discuss and disseminate the latest innovations and technological advances that drive Permian Basin resurgence despite the uncertain market conditions. PBS 2022 will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Norris Conference Center-City Centre and we expect 150-225 engineers, scientists, academia, managers and financial executives to attend.

Ron Gusek has been the President of Liberty Oilfield Services since November 2016. Before assuming the role of President, Ron was the VP of Technology and Development from 2014. Over the past 20 years, Ron has garnered extensive oil and gas experience in North America and extended his knowledge of operations through travels to Asia, Russia and the Middle East. Within Liberty, Ron’s focus includes new technology and innovation, service quality, efficiency and optimization.


Ron holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alberta.


Ron has also held previous roles at Sanjel Corporation, Zodiac Exploration and Pinnacle Technologies, with a primary focus on hydraulic fracturing in unconventional reservoirs.


Outside of work, Ron is a husband to Jodi, father to daughters Abbie (19) and Robyn (16), runner, cyclist, hiker, skier and occasional adventure racer.

Mr. Wesson currently serves as COO. He previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations since March 2020. Prior to his current position with us, he served as our Senior Vice President of Operations from February 2019 to March 2020, Vice President of Operations from April 2017 to February 2019, our Completions Manager from January 2013 to April 2017 and as an Operations Engineer since joining us in February 2012. Before joining Diamondback, Mr. Wesson served in various operations and engineering roles for BOPCO from 2010 to 2012 and ConocoPhillips from 2007 to 2010.


Mr. Wesson received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and is a member of the Permian Basin Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Chris Jackson is currently Asset Manager for ConocoPhillips’ Midland Basin South assets. Chris started his career with ConocoPhillips in 2007 and spent the next 11 years working in various engineering and leadership roles in the Permian Basin.  Prior to moving into his current role, he spent two years as Director Corporate Planning & Strategy, and one year as Strategic Advisor to Tim Leach, Executive Vice President Lower 48.  Both positions afforded him the opportunity to play a significant role in the Concho acquisition and integration process.


Chris earned an MBA from Rice University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University.

Ken Beattie is the Chief Operating Officer at CrownQuest Operating, LLC. Ken graduated from Montana Tech in 1992 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He began his career at Meridian Oil, which later became Burlington Resources, in 1993. While at Burlington, Ken served in various engineering roles, concluding as Gulf Coast Engineering Manager. When ConocoPhillips (COP) acquired Burlington in 2006, Ken served as the Mid-Continent Business Development Manager for COP. Mark’s deep-dive supply chain expertise is in high demand—he serves as a consulting executive to several international businesses, is an equity partner in several others, and is now a frequent contributor to Bloomberg TV after serving as a Bloomberg Energy Industry Analyst.


That expertise has been crafted over many years in a variety of roles, including Senior Energy Analyst and Macro-Economist positions at Elevation, Candlewood Investment Group, and South Ferry Capital Management, as well as his formative experiences as a Portfolio Manager at FNY Capital and Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he managed an eight-person team focused on developing a global trade platform to invest in rates, foreign exchange, commodities, and equities.
