The Community Service Committee is hosting a career talk with three High Schools in the Spring Branch ISD. This is a virtual event, hence volunteers can participate from the comfort of their offices/homes.
We've all been through High School and fully remember the challenges that faced us when we made career choices. While many of us picked our current careers back in High School, many more have had to pivot to other industries in careers completely different from where we started.
On December 1st, we will be hosting career panels in three (3) high schools: Stratford, Memorial, and Spring Woods. We need a panel of 4 participants each with one additional person to moderate the session (15 volunteers total). The students attending are in the Engineering program. One of the primary objectives of this panel is to help the students understand the importance of a career choice and what the future holds when they pursue their dream career with passion, dedication, and focus. We also need them to understand that they can do anything. Hence, they should be ready to explore new horizons should the NEED arise. Some of the lines of discussion:
1. Who is an engineer?
2. What are the possible career paths for engineers?
3. What makes an engineering career special/unique
4. What influenced your decision to choose a career in engineering
5. Is it possible to switch to a different career path after studying engineering and how easy is that?
Join us for this conversation as we help these high school kids make choices that will shape not just their future, but also the world we live in. The specific times for each school on 12/01/2021 are:
Stratford High School: 12:30 - 1:20 PM (50 minutes)
Memorial Senior High School: 12:20 - 1:10 PM (50 minutes)
Spring Woods High School: 11:25 - 12:15 PM (50 minutes)
