Speaker #2 Abstract: Geology to Product Management: What’s Transferable?
The years 2015 and 2016 were rough for graduates entering the energy workforce, who went from envisioning an exciting career to the industry being flipped on its head. I was one of the lucky ones to have made it into the workforce in 2016. Adaptability and general curiosity helped me find opportunity in a time of uncertainty which has steered my expected career as a geologist into several different jobs, ultimately landing in product development. I’ll talk about the atypical journey of going from a job in exploration in Jordan to product development for a service company. The ups, the downs, and the identity crises caused by momentum swings in the ever-evolving energy industry.
