Description

Security is understood to be “the state of being free from danger or threat.” Nevertheless, we all have our own understanding and/or perceptions of what Security is and/or what it should be. Security is a vital support function for any business, just like Legal, Human Resources and Safety and it is tasked to support core functions of the business. The operational environment of a business primarily helps in determining the Security needs and requirements. However, Security programs share similar traits across different industries worldwide. The focus of this presentation to provide an overview and familiarize the participants with the tenets of a Security program as to develop a better understanding of Security’s capabilities and support.

Frank Munoz is a Manager of Corporate Security for Occidental Petroleum Corporation. Frank has worked for Occidental since 2001 in various roles within the Corporate Security department. In his current role, Frank provides oversight for security programs both domestically and internationally, especially for the Gulf of Mexico and Latin American assets. He is also responsible for providing security support and solutions for all company assets. Frank holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from the University of Redlands and is fluent in both English and Spanish. In addition, Frank has been a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 1997. Currently, Frank is a candidate in the Master’s in Homeland Security program at Pennsylvania State University.
