Commissioner George P. Bush will discuss how the General Land Office supports the Texas economy and the energy industry including on issues ranging from safeguarding coastlines, recovering from hurricanes, supporting veterans, and managing the lands that are helping to drive the Texas oil and gas renaissance. His talk will focus on the innovations that have led the General Land Office to produce the highest total revenues of oil and gas for the state in Texas History and how the Texas model for energy production continues to keep Texas moving.

George Prescott Bush works to safeguard our Texas coastline and homes as well as ensure Texas veterans receive the benefits they’ve earned. He also oversees investments that earn billions of dollars for education while managing state lands to produce the oil and gas that helps make America energy-independent. Commissioner Bush is also working to save the Alamo.


Commissioner Bush has dedicated his life to public service — working as a public-school teacher after graduating from Rice University, serving in Afghanistan as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve, and now as the 28th Land Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office.
