Description

From barefoot completions with one frac job to hundreds of individual fracture entry points in a cased well, there has been a rapid evolution of multistage completions in low-permeability reservoirs over the last decade, and it continues to evolve at a rapid pace. This presentation will go through this rapid evolution of multistage completions, current trends, and potential future trends. The US market has mostly shifted to one type of completion system, plug-and-perf, so it may seem like this evolution is over. However, there have been drastic changes in plug-and-perf completions in the last several years.

This presenter will argue that the selection of completion type has been heavily influenced by downturn economics and operational changes, and that the overall evolution in completions is far from over. This presentation will discuss these influences and other factors that could continue the evolution, such as new technologies and techniques.
