Description

Increasing production while controlling OPEX and CAPEX is one of the primary goals of an integrated field development team.

Successfully understanding and managing fluids and produced hydrocarbons is the most effective method field development teams can incorporate. In this seminar Stratum Reservoir will explain a proposed workflow to understand produced fluids and mitigate common production concerns in conventional and unconventional assets. We will discuss sample requirements for each proposed test with an emphasis on current technologies.

KeongAik Lau is a Global Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Stratum Reservoir. Lau has a wide variety
of experience in reservoir fluid characterization. This includes reservoir fluid sampling and data quality control.
Experiment analysis of standard and heavy oil PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature). Further experience includes
enhanced oil recovery (EOR) experimental design and data analysis. EOR experiments include swell test, slim-tube and multi-contact to support miscible gas EOR projects. Development of equation-of-state characterization for both standard and EOR application. Current work involves unconventional fluid characterization. This includes experimental method to determine in-situ reservoir fluid composition for resource size estimation and determining reserves and potential for enhanced oil recovery. Lau has previously work for an oil and gas operator and also has field experience in reservoir evaluation wireline logging.

Fei Yan is the manager of Water Laboratory at Stratum Reservoir. He received his PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas. He has six years of experience in water management, flow assurance, scale and corrosion …

Fei Yan is the manager of Water Laboratory at Stratum Reservoir. He received his PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas. He has six years of experience in water management, flow assurance, scale and corrosion control, produced water treatment, and production chemicals in oilfield. His work in these areas has resulted in over 30 journal and conference publications such as SPE Journal, Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering, SPE International Conference on Oilfield Chemistry, and SPE International Oilfield Scale Conference. Currently, he leads the Water Laboratory, with the focus on maintaining high-quality standards while developing new technical capabilities of water analysis. He is also actively involved in providing technical advice on various water related oilfield issues.

Mark has over twenty-seven years of experience in the industry, specializing in geochemistry and is a leading expert consultant in oil, gas and water fingerprinting. He is a registered geologist in multiple states and has testified as an expert witness before numerous courts and commissions. Currently his role at Weatherford …

Mark has over twenty-seven years of experience in the industry, specializing in geochemistry and is a leading expert consultant in oil, gas and water fingerprinting. He is a registered geologist in multiple states and has testified as an expert witness before numerous courts and commissions. Currently his role at Weatherford Laboratory uses petroleum geochemistry, geology and engineering data to optimize exploration, development and production strategies. Two key areas of specialization for Mark are assessment of reservoir continuity and enhancing field production through quantitative allocation of the contribution of multiple zones to commingled production. As an expert witness, Mark testified in water well contamination cases, gas storage and has been actively involved in monitoring migration and biodegradation of natural gas in the Trinity Group Aquifer. He has written numerous technical papers on oil biodegradation, paleoenvironmental reconstruction and hazardous waste remediation.
