Please join SPE-GCS Young Professionals at May luncheon to hear from industry experts. The luncheon will include 3 individual sessions which will start with providing information and evaluation of the Oil & Gas Market Overview in the US and will be followed by Workforce Outlook with an emphasis on the dynamics of the workforce in Oil & Gas in the US, the impact of the downturn and the interest of the next generation in the industry etc.

 

This event is a great opportunity to understand the economical overview of the oil & gas industry and how market trends impact the future trends in workforce and its planning in an oil & gas company.

Mine Kuban Yücel is Senior Vice President and Senior Research Advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She has been with the Bank since 1989. Yücel served as Research Director prior to her current position and was the head of the Bank's Micro/Regional/Energy group and Director of Publications before that. Yucel is an advisor to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas president on regional and energy issues and has published numerous articles on energy and regional growth.


Yücel is past president of the National Association for Business Economics, serves on the University of Texas at Dallas Energy Board and the Advisory Board of the Global Interdependence Center. She was president of the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) in 2011 and president of the United States Association of Energy Economics (USAEE) in 2005. She has served on the executive boards of these two organizations, as well as the boards of Executive Women of Dallas, Dallas Area Business Economists, the Dallas Chapter of Women in Technology International, Inc. and the Greater Dallas Chamber’s Board of Economists. She received the USAEE ‘Senior Fellow’ Award in 2007, the Energy Journal Best Paper Award in 2009, the ‘Outstanding Contributions to the IAEE’ award in 2015, the USAEE Adelman-Frankel Award in 2017 and the NABE Fellow Award in 2018.


Before joining the Bank she was an assistant professor of Economics at Louisiana State University. She has a B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey and a Ph.D. in economics from Rice University in Houston, Texas.

Deborah serves as EY’s Americas Sector & Solutions Leader and the US Oil and Gas Leader. Deborah previously was the Houston Office Managing Partner, the EY Americas Oil & Gas Tax leader, and the Managing Partner of the Transaction Services group in the Southwest Region where she focused on Energy transactions. Deborah is a transaction tax partner with more than 30 years of experience serving both US and non-US based multinationals with in-depth expertise on structuring and financing corporate expansions and joint ventures.


Deborah has significant experience working with cross border transactions, reviewing tax and economic considerations in transactions involving complex Joint Ventures and corporate structuring projects, including initial review related to proof of concept, tax modeling, and structuring and execution of initial IPO, and a deep knowledge in tax and economic issues surrounding development of gas shale reserves in North America, Global LNG development projects and the impact of these development son the Power sector.


Deborah is a frequent speaker (and writer) on oil and gas industry issues, as well as on energy tax and transaction matters. Deborah has been published and/or has appeared in Oil and Gas Investor, Oil & Gas Journal, Oil & Gas Financial Journal, Platts, Forbes, Bloomberg, New York Times, Houston Chronicle’s FuelFix, the Houston Business Journal, Oil & Gas Monitor, Petroleum Intelligence Weekly and others.


Deborah received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baylor University. Deborah is a member of the AICPA and Texas Society of CPAs and is licensed in Texas. Deborah is also on the Board of Directors for the United Way and Baker Ripely.

Deanna Jones is senior vice president of HR, Communications and Administration for Marathon Oil Corporation. She joined the Company in January 2014.


Ms. Jones most recently served as vice president of Human Resources and chief commercial officer for Newfield Exploration Co. Prior to that, from 2008 until 2010, she served as Human Resource director, Reservoir Production Group of Schlumberger. Between 2006 and 2008, Ms. Jones held the position of vice president, North America for Schlumberger Information Solutions, and in that role, was responsible for leading software, information and the company’s related infrastructure organization in the U.S.


From 2003 to 2006, she served as vice president of Personnel for Schlumberger Information Solutions, and was responsible for leading all human resource related activities for Schlumberger's world-wide workforce from its London office. During the period 1993 to 2003, she worked in a variety of managerial assignments of increasing responsibility for Schlumberger in Canada and the U.S.


Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Calgary, Canada; and has completed executive business courses in human resources at the University of Michigan and in finance at the IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Ms. Jones serves on the board of directors of Communities in Schools of Houston.
