Abstract 1:

Have you ever assembled an Ikea furniture without looking at the directions on that white sheet of paper? Running a Startup without a business plan is only 1,000 times harder and results in more chaos than a wobbly chair. Creating a business plan is simple and there are some key points one should cover when making one. In this talk, we’ll look at how to make one popular version of a business plan - The Pitch Deck. Matthew Marchetti helped create CrowdSource Rescue, a small website to help organize boat rescues for his flooded Houston neighborhood. It has up wound up helping rescue nearly 50,000 people by connecting them to 18,000+ vetted professional and civilian volunteers.

Abstract 2:

Come hear the inspirational story of Matthew Marchetti’s efforts to save his neighbors from the ravages of Hurricane Harvey floodwaters.  After a chaotic day of boat rescues, Matthew Marchetti envisioned a more organized way to help those affected by the storm. He helped develop a web-based application called CrowdSource Rescueto connect volunteer rescuers with disaster victims.  Within hours of setting up the platform, Matthew received thousands of rescue requests.  To date, CrowdSource Rescue has been used to aid victims in all the US hurricanes of 2017 and 2018, and Matthew has gained national recognition from major cities, states, corporations and disaster relief agencies.
