Description

This talk discusses the technical challenges faced while implementing a real-time drilling advisory system. The system uses a data-driven response surface model with physics-based calculations to optimize rate of penetration while minimizing drilling vibration dysfunction. Challenges relate to characterizing drilling performance, performing optimization, and providing driller guidance, and this paper will describe how the challenges are addressed followed by results from an unconventional oil and gas field deployment.
