Software training for Members in Transition only. You must be a professional member of SPE not currently working for an employer to take this class.  No Walkins.

    • Summary: The class focuses on the basics of operating the new Kingdom Microseismic software. You will learn how to load microseismic event and well treatment data. You will see techniques for viewing and filtering microseismic event data, for viewing well treatment data, for creating microseismic event subsets by stage and by cut and crop options and techniques for displaying best fit planes and volumes for event subsets. You will also learn how to generate new microseismic attributes, including X, Y, Z-Time, and Z-Depth adjustments, borehole and horizon distance attributes and extracted data attributes. In addition, you will be shown how to calculate event subset statistics, display histograms of almost any microseismic data type, and how to use the new 2D Crossplot option to create and view crossplots of any combination of microseismic data

Principal – Customer Solutions Glen Penfield provides training and Tier 3 support to US customers, focusing on the Kingdom suite, as well as Petra and Vantage. He writes the manuals for classes and mentors clients 1-1, in addition to teaching public and private classes. With more than four years of industry experience he addresses client day-to-day issues and gives onsite support when required. Prior to joining the company in January, 2014, Glen gained field experience at Fugro GeoConsulting Ltd, where he assisted with seismic data interpretation. He collected sediment samples and rhizome testing for analysis by a geochemist and assisted with core descriptions. He previously was with Chicxulub Geosciences, a consultancy group that offers strategic planning for international O&G companies in Latin America and Africa. Glen earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology at Sam Houston State University, US. Through a joint program of MTU and the University of Cape Town, he completed Field Camp in the Cape Fold Belt, South Africa.
