Software training for Members in Transition only. You must be a professional member of SPE not currently working for an employer to take this class.  No Walkins.

  • Summary: This course demonstrates the use of Kingdom software to load various types of culture, well and production data, as well as digital and raster log data. Interpreters are encouraged to attend this course in order to learn the data loading process
  • Prerequisite: Assumes that the attendee has a fundamental understanding of the data types used in this class
  • Topics:
    • How to create and manage a project including establishing project boundaries, choosing an X/Y projection, and the use of authors
    • Importing and editing various culture files, including Landmark metafiles, AutoCAD DXF and Shape files, and using web-mapping services to display geospatial content
    • Importing well data from Energy and columnar ASCII formats, as well as importing deviation surveys, time-depth charts, digital log data and formation tops
    • Importing, calibrating and displaying raster logs
    • Loading production data and columnar ASCII formats, as well as viewing and plotting production data
    • Storing and linking miscellaneous documents and images using PAKnotes

Principal – Customer Solutions Glen Penfield provides training and Tier 3 support to US customers, focusing on the Kingdom suite, as well as Petra and Vantage. He writes the manuals for classes and mentors clients 1-1, in addition to teaching public and private classes. With more than four years of industry experience he addresses client day-to-day issues and gives onsite support when required. Prior to joining the company in January, 2014, Glen gained field experience at Fugro GeoConsulting Ltd, where he assisted with seismic data interpretation. He collected sediment samples and rhizome testing for analysis by a geochemist and assisted with core descriptions. He previously was with Chicxulub Geosciences, a consultancy group that offers strategic planning for international O&G companies in Latin America and Africa. Glen earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology at Sam Houston State University, US.
