John Alzate joined Weatherford International, Houston, TX in November 2012 where he is working currently as a Production Optimization Engineer. His areas of interest include but are not limited to well performance analysis, integrated asset modeling, PVT and flow assurance analysis, production optimization, artificial lift evaluation and design, and reservoir characterization. In 2004, he obtained a BS in Petroleum Engineering from The National University of Colombia. After graduating he joined an International Oil Company (IOC) where he worked in Oil & Gas field operations; optimizing processing facilities, water injection, gas compression and artificial lift systems. He furthered his education in The University of Oklahoma and in 2012, he obtained a MS in Petroleum Engineering where he focused his research on reservoir characterization of conventional and unconventional assets. John is an Active Member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicist (SEG) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide you with the knowledge and hands-on practice that you will need to use ReO software (Resource Optimizer) as an engineering tool for integrated oil and gas production optimization applications. ReO software is able to simulate the production network behaviour including Wells, Chokes, Compressors, Heat Exchangers, Pipelines, Pumps, Gas lift Systems, Separators.

Using ReO software simulations you will learn the advantages of having the entire production network, from the reservoir to the processing plant, included in a single integrated model rather than doing production optimization on a well-by-well basis. Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to use ReO software to analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize field operations aiming to maximize revenue subject to costs and operational constraints.
