Description

In partnership with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Houston and Rice University Chapters, SPE GCS YP invites you to come out to Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IAGTE) at Rice University on May 5th, 2018. This year SPE GCS YP is hosting an activity track for the day, designed to teach oil and gas engineering through hands-on experiments and contests! To do this, we need your help.

This volunteer sign-up is for the morning shift from 8:30am-12:00pm. Volunteers are encouraged to participate in both shifts (morning and afternoon) if their schedule permits.

Volunteer activities include:

Assisting teams of 7-9th graders in hands-on activities that teach concepts like design, planning, the scientific method and the application of energy and oil and gas principles, like density, pressure and porosity

Helping the teams to apply engineering principles and problem solving skills

Coaching and mentoring attendees so they can see how to apply engineering in the real world
