Description

With the ever increasing drive to improve cost and oil recovery efficiencies within the US unconventional resource plays, onshore drilling has evolved in recent years from sequential to parallel well construction activities involving the drilling contractor and multiple service companies working simultaneously on a well pad. This evolution has led to numerous equipment and process modifications and shifts in risk perception and risk tolerance thresholds. This discussion will examine these evolutionary advances, highlight the new health, safety and environmental risks, and offer potential risk management strategies for the mitigation of those risks.
