Description

Today, E&P companies are being challenged more than ever before to improve economic performance.  Since completions are the largest cost for multistage completions it is imperative to improve cycle time and maximize production results.  A new approach to multistage completions combines predictable and verifiable frac spacing and propped volume with recorded bottomhole pressures and temperatures to enable operators to progressively optimize stimulation designs and frac delivery across fields.  The approach relies on single-point frac placement using a coiled-tubing-deployed isolation system.  The presentation will describe single-point stimulation technology, discuss the value of recorded downhole pressure and temperature data, and review a number of optimization case histories.

Eric is an experienced oilfield engineer, with over 30 years of drilling and completions experience in the WCSB.  A graduate of Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1982, Eric spent almost 20 years of his career with a major international oilfield service company in a broad range of technical and managerial roles, encompassing all aspects of drilling and completion operations.  Eric subsequently worked as a drilling and completions engineer for several Canadian oil and gas producers, eventually becoming an independent consultant as the industry moved towards the exploitation of unconventional reservoirs.  Today, Eric serves as the VP of Strategic Business for NCS Multistage, a company focused on the optimization of reservoir exploitation and well stimulation.
