Description

"Utilizing Underbalanced Casing Drilling Techniques to Reduce Well Cost in South Texas" - Drilling deep gas wells in mature HPHT environments requires managing high pressure sands intermixed with zones with extreme pressure depletion.  Recently, Under-balanced Drilling with Casing has been used to slim down casing hole size programs and eliminate drilling liners.  Production casing is drilled into place and cemented without tripping, reducing well cost as much as 30%.

"Use of Solid Expandable Tubular (SET) Technology – From contingency to integral well design" - This presentation will provide applications where the SET technology has been used around the world to improve well integrity and allow continuation of the well towards the desired objectives.

"Proactive Applications of Dual Gradient Technology" - This presentation will discuss the rationale why industry uptake has been nonexistent despite the considerable expenditures supporting the efforts since the 1990's. This will be followed by a discussion of how some of the dual gradient equipment and procedures can be used in different configurations to produce value for E&P companies.

"Continuous Circulation System: Maintaining Constant Fluid Circulation During Connections" - A system has been developed that enables continuous circulation of mud throughout the drilling process, including making and breaking drill pipe connections. True continuous ECD can be achieved and maintained minimizing the possibility of either a kick or formation damage in narrow margin wells.

"Planning for Deep Shelf Drilling – How Deep Can We Go?" - This presentation details the history of "ultra-deep" drilling in the gulf of mexico and the current view of deep drilling requirements. Through our experiences we've found certain limits for various parts of the deep drilling well construction.  We will review some of the equipment and design limitations and areas for further study to enable cost-effective exploration in these new frontiers.

"Elimination of Sustained Casing Pressure – A Series of GOM and North Sea Case Histories" - David will provide an overview of the development of the microannulus leak solution plus a series of case histories discussing the application of the technology in the Gulf of Mexico and the North Sea.
