Description
The Project, Facilities and Construction Study Group is pleased to announce our Summer Series for 2014. The series of lectures will focus on “Floating Production Systems” and the challenges our industry faces when selecting and designing the optimum field development plan for deepwater assets. The series is sponsored by GATE, Technip, and INTECSEA.
As offshore discoveries go deeper and into new environments, producing oil and gas from these resources becomes a more complex challenge. Deep water production requires a large portfolio of projects to be developed with Floating Production Systems (FPS). Many factors must be considered which influence the design, including the payload and performance requirements, the met-ocean and geotechnical environments, construction methodology and available facilities, installation methodology and available equipment, and schedule requirements.
A series of six (6) sessions have been selected to provide the attendee with an understanding of the factors and challenges that influence the selection and design of FPS. In the sessions, a summary of the main characteristics and design considerations will be provided including pros and cons. In addition, selected recent innovations and future challenges will be discussed. In many cases, lessons learned from recent projects regarding design, installation and operation will be discussed.
These sessions will be presented by industry recognized experts from the oil company, contractor, and engineering communities. These are perfect opportunities for either an introduction to FPS for the engineer just starting in the industry, a refresher for the more seasoned individual, or just a great networking opportunity for those involved in this arena.
Each session is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm and lasts one (1) hour followed by a thirty (30) minute Q&A session. We fully expect a large turnout so please book early and we hope you make all attempts to attend all six (6) sessions. The PF&C Study group appreciates the support of our SPE GCS members and we look forward to seeing you there.
