Description



The success of the shale revolution in the United States has spurred a global movement for energy companies and governments to identify and develop the next big shale play.  The potential for Latin America is immense.  

 Shale plays have been identified in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and other countries. While it is uncertain how many of these shale plays will eventually prove to be economic, it is clear that shale has the potential to play a major role in Latin America’s future and will provide significant opportunities and challenges for companies ready to invest in the region.

Joe Amador is Managing Director and Head of Latin America for Tudor Pickering Holt & Co.  Joe has been working the Latin American energy sector since 1996.  Over the last five years he has participated in over 20 mergers and acquisitions mandates representing in excess of $25 billion in value.  …

Joe Amador is Managing Director and Head of Latin America for Tudor Pickering Holt & Co.  Joe has been working the Latin American energy sector since 1996.  Over the last five years he has participated in over 20 mergers and acquisitions mandates representing in excess of $25 billion in value.  Prior to joining TPH, he was a Director at Scotia Waterous, the oil and gas investment banking division of Canada’s Scotiabank.  He was at international consultancy firm Gaffney, Cline & Associates for 11 years, where he provided board-level advice to energy companies.  Joe began his career as an Operations / Analytical Engineer with ARCO Oil and Gas Company, which was subsequently acquired by BP.


Joe holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Houston Baptist University.
