This presentation will provide an update on the activities of the Offshore
Operators Committee (OOC).  The agenda is listed below:

OOC is a non-profit organization comprised of individuals and companies
owning offshore leases as well as individuals and companies engaged in offshore
activity as a drilling contractor, service company, supplier or other capacity
that desires to participate in the work of OOC or the Offshore Operators
Committee.  The Committee's activities are focused on providing its member
operators with information and technical support that will assist them in
conducting their offshore activities in a manner that will promote sound safety
and environmental operational practice.

Speaker Allen J. Verret, P.E. - Executive Director

Allen Verret is a 30-year veteran of Texaco’s Offshore Gulf of Mexico Operations and is presently the Executive Director of the Industry’s Offshore Operators Committee.

Allen Verret is a 30-year veteran of Texaco’s Offshore Gulf of Mexico Operations and is presently the Executive Director of the Industry’s Offshore Operators Committee.


Allen entered service with Texaco, Inc. after receiving his BS in Civil Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1970.  He was assigned to the then new Offshore District Office in Morgan City, LA. In his 30 years of service, Allen has held engineering, management and engineering advisor positions within Texaco’s field, district and division offices and has worked in engineering, construction, field operations, production and drilling and workover operations as well as being active in the marine technology development needs. 


Allen has been an active participant in Texaco’s Oil Spill Response Organization during his career and has over 15 years of actual response experience in near shore and offshore spills.  He served as the Offshore Division Alternate Incident Commander and as the Texaco Regional Response Team’s Operations Section Leader before his retirement. 


Allen has been active in the DeepStar Project since its inception in 1992 and served as Texaco’s Senior Advisor on the Management Panel as well as being the Chairman of the Regulatory Committee for many of the earlier Phases.  Allen retired from active service in May 1999 and has served as the DeepStar Technical Advisor to the Regulatory Sub Committee for the Phase V, VI , VII, VIII and Phase IX efforts.


Allen transitioned to his current position of Executive Director of the Offshore Operators Committee(OOC), a Industry Trade association, in 2000. OOC is located in New Orleans, LA.
