Description

Often discussed as  “the great crew change”.  The availability of qualified multi-disciplined engineers and other technical personnel required to design, construct and operate offshore drilling and production facilities has been diminishing for some time.  There is no quick fix.

This presentation will highlight several key components of a new generation of 3D HD panoramic photo technology and it’s applications to foster team collaboration with senior (SME) subject matter experts and other personnel.

Specific projects and the applications of this technology will be presented and discussed including overall project cost and risk reduction observations from several North Sea operators. Panoramic 3D HD guides were used to augment other offsite visual assessment tools such as CCTV, laser scan images/3D models and standard photography to reduce uncertainty for offsite (SME’s).

The technology allows web hosted panoramic photo surveys to be produced for specific facilities which include thousands of ultra-clear views which are linked to a facilities G/A Drawings. Offsite (SMEs) virtually  can walk anywhere on a drilling or production facility, view 360° around equipment, conduct and easily document detailed assessments, plan projects, analyze operational performance and risk.  Precise 3D measurements can be acquired with the click of a mouse, right off the computer screen. No training or special software is required for personnel to use.

A demonstration of practical applications will include:

  • Project planning of brown field drill rig and production facilities modifications
  • Commissioning communications associated with New builds
  • Multi-disciplinary collaboration visual reference
  • Bid package clarifications
  • Integrated production and drilling operations /clarification of  Work Orders
  • HSE-HAZOP/HAZID risk prevention assessment planning/Incident root cause analysis
  • Emergency preparedness planning offsite
  • Offsite integrity reliability assessments
  • Asset documentation
  • Decommissioning/planning operational review
  • Training/competency validation

He understands the urgent need of the industry to foster technology that improves the offsite deployment of (SME’s) knowledge base and increase peer review throughout the life cycle of the asset.

In the early 1980’s Bill left Zapata Drilling and founded Bishop Engineering Corp of Houston Texas. As CEO of Bishop he managed projects and operations involving:

  • Drilling and Production Operations

  • Offshore tie back and top side process expansions

  • New build and major upgrade of drilling facilities

  • Midstream pipeline and gas processing facilities
