Full Description

For the past several years Marathon Oil, in collaboration with several service companies, has been funding development and field trials of RFID technology to actuate downhole drilling and completion tools.    This overview will discuss the various tools ( circ subs, under-reamers, disconnects, cementing valves, etc) which have or are being developed and field trialed.  Some tools are now commercially being used in the field  (Alaska, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Poland ) and those results / reasons the operators chose to use the technology will also be described.       An interesting North Sea  drilling / completion  RFID interventionless completion will also be described in some detail.  It is anticipated a large number of these RFID tools will enter the market within the next year, in addition to the jobs already either completed or underway.
