Description

Part 4 of the 5 part Expanding Facilities Knowledge Workshop focuses on Electrical and Instrumentation as applied to oil and gas upstream facilities.  This session will cover basic information about the role of electrical and instrumentation in a facilities development for controls and monitoring, including pneumatic controls, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) systems, etc.
 
The Expanding Facilities Knowledge Workshops are aimed at imparting basic concepts and facilities knowledge to graduate new hires and summer interns at EP companies and contractors, while allowing opportunities for networking with other young professionals in the industry.
Pre-registration for this event is strongly recommended as the event fills quickly and early.  Walk-ins will only be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis if space allows.
 
Presentation starts at 4 pm.  We recommend that you arrive at 3:30 pm if you are a walk-in or need to pay at the door.

Brent Owen is the Global Manager of Instrumentation at Mustang, a Wood Group company.   Brent coordinates instrumentation engineering and design efforts between all of Mustang locations around the world.  His responsibilities include multi-location multi-business unit coordination on technical standards, procedures, and workflows as well maximizing the use of global expertise on projects.  Additionally, he leads and participates in corporate initiatives supporting corporate goals.  Prior to his current position, he has held a variety of positions including project management, Houston Area Instrumentation Department manager, lead instrument engineer, and instrument engineer.    


Brent is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Texas and a Project Management Professional (PMP) as designated by the Project Management Institute (PMI).  He is a member of ISA (Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society) and PMI.

 

Brent earned a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a MBA from the University of Texas (2009 expected).
