SPE will be a sponsor of the THANKSGIVING HOUSTON SUPERFEAST this year . Volunteers are needed Thanksgiving Day starting at 4:30 a.m. and until 5:00 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to set-up, unload trucks, cook, serve dinner guests, wait on tables, fold and distribute blankets and clothing, clean up and assist in the children’s area.
To volunteer, you do not need to leave your name and number, just show up on Thanksgiving Day and sign in at the volunteer tent on 500 Walker at Smith.
You may volunteer one hour, two hours or stay all day, the time you donate will be greatly appreciated.
Families with children of all ages are welcome to volunteer. Your children will be able to work right by your side.
The 24th Annual Thanksgiving Houston Superfeast will be held Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, 2008, outside on grounds of Houston City Hall (located at 900 Smith between Walker and McKinney) and Tranquility Park. We will join Houston City Hall and Tranquility Park by closing Walker Street.
The Superfeast will serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner (turkey, dressing and all the trimmings) to the homeless and less fortunate of the City of Houston. Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The serving time will be extended if needed. No one is ever turned away and each guest is welcome to go through the serving lines as many times as he or she would like, no questions asked.
In addition to serving Thanksgiving dinner, the Superfeast will have a blanket and clothing distribution, information referral services, musical entertainment and a children’s area. The children’s area will have two moonwalks, arts and crafts, face painting and games. Plus, each child will be able to visit with Santa.
Volunteers are needed Thanksgiving Day starting at 4:30 a.m. and until 5:00 p.m. Designated parking for is available at 1100 Smith (enter the Hines Garage at 1100 Smith just past Pappas BBQ, take a ticket, when you leave the gate arms will automatically go up).
