 New to the oil and gas industry? New to facilities? Do you work in another part of our industry and want to enhance you knowledge about facilities? Want to network with people that have these same interests in common?

Come to the Expanding Facilities Knowledge Workshop! This will be a an excellent way to increase your basic knowledge about oil and gas facilities, no matter what specific field you are in or how much experience you have, as well as broaden your network. 

This 5 part workshop is aimed at imparting basic concepts and facilities knowledge to graduate new hires and summer interns of EP companies and contractors, while allowing opportunities for networking with other young Houston-based professionals in the industry.
 
Session 1: Concept Selection 
An overview of Offshore concepts (steel pile jacket, SPAR,FPSO,TLP) / construction/installation), including an explanation regarding under what conditions each concept is optimal.  Session will also discuss construction and installation methods.
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged.

Note:  Parking is on 5th level.

 James A. (Jim) Haney

Jim Haney earned a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University in 1966 and has perfected his experience in the offshore structural engineering field for the past 35 years. Jim began working for J. Ray McDermott Engineering in 1974, first as a senior structural engineer and in increasingly responsible positions since that time. He did pioneering work on deepwater fixed platforms in the Gulf of Mexico and also lent his expertise to several spar platform projects in recent years. Jim is the main or contributing author of 8 U.S. patents for offshore structural devices or systems.


 Alp A. Kocaman
 

Alp Kocaman earned a Master's Degree in Naval Architecture from the University of California Berkeley in 1980. In 1991, after working for an offshore engineering office for 2 years and the offshore operations of an oil company for 9 years, he joined J. Ray McDermott Engineering. At McDermott, he has been in charge of detailed installation engineering and field supervision of installation activities. In addition to authoring numerous technical papers, he has been the main contributor to 2 U.S. patents.
