Description

 

The presentation will discuss an innovative stimulation technique performed on open hole horizontal wells in various formations across the Permian Basin. The paper will discuss and analyze BHP data that was recorded during the actual horizontal fracturing work. The data will demonstrate isolation from one fracture point to the next. In addition, the presentation will compare production results from these horizontal wells to others in the same field that were completed using several different techniques.

Billy Ray Smith, Jr. is the Business Development Technology Manager for Halliburton in the Permian Basin. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University. He started his career in Hobbs, NM as a Wellsite Engineer. While in Hobbs, he was actively involved in all aspects of well construction and completion. In 2000, he transferred to Midland as a Technical Advisor and has held various engineering, management, and sales positions since. He is an active member of SPE. He is on the Advisory Board for the Alliance for Innovative Energy Technology Commercialization at the University of Texas Permian Basin. He is on the Advisory Board for the Petroleum Professional Development Center at Midland College. He has authored or coauthored numerous technical publications.
