Experience

MURPHY OIL, WORLDWIDE EXPLORATION, HOUSTON, TX 2017 – 2020

Senior Geophysicist, seismic reservoir characterization and imaging Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Provided advice in seismic imaging and reservoir characterization assisting projects in New Ventures, Exploration and Development. Projects offshore (US GOM, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Vietnam, West Africa) and onshore (Eagle Ford)

- Wide range of projects involving hands-on work and/or managing and collaborating with 2-3 contractors and 8-10 vendors
- Developed and implemented dedicated workflows for seismic imaging and seismic reservoir characterization including velocity model building and signal processing, seismic modeling, well ties, rock physics, AVO, seismic attributes, and seismic inversion for conventional and unconventional reservoirs
Highlights include:
- Contributed to a discovery and definition of appraisal and followup opportunities offshore Mexico
- Proprietary model building including FWI, tomography and depth imaging combined with rock physics and AVO modeling in US GOM, offshore Mexico and Brazil, that provided key inputs for prospect definition and evaluation
- Colored (EEI), simultaneous and stochastic inversion in offshore Mexico and Brazil, used to evaluate discovered resource (DRO) and exploration opportunities
- Multiclient WAZ and NAZ processing in deepwater Mexico and Brazil
- Signal processing, imaging and poststack impedance inversion in Eagle Ford

BP, SEISMIC IMAGING FLAGSHIP, HOUSTON, TX 2011 – 2016

Senior Geophysicist
Delivering technical solutions through R&D, implementation and hands-on processing. Seismic reservoir characterization and gather conditioning work on North Sea, Lower 48 and Oman. Imaging and processing projects in North and South America and the Middle East.

- Jointly conducted research on seismic adaptive optics, and on near-surface effects in imaging and processing, which resulted in a patent for an innovative methodology
- Led project on incorporation of azimuthal anisotropy on QI workflows using North Sea and Oman data, with initial results in assessing state of the art and benchmarking of internal and contractor's toolkit
- Led PSDM and tomography model building project solving for velocity anomalies from channels in the overburden in data from Iraq giant field, significantly improving definition of key reservoir units
- Co-led near-surface modeling using refraction tomography and FWI delivering improved seismic imaging and reduced drilling risk in 3D seismic data from Oman
- Served as consultant to business unit managing contractor work in imaging and velocity modeling for fault shadow issues in Alaska, that maximized value of services by improving image quality
- Designated as Land Seismic Processing Expert in 2015 (1 of 3 company-wide)
- Collaborated in testing of novel implementation approaches and data conditioning for FWI and processing of VSP DAS data

REPSOL, GEOPHYSICAL TECHNOLOGY, HOUSTON, TX 2008 – 2011
