My favorite college memory was the simulation lab/plant. It was a great learning tool. You could see how all the equipment interacted and applied concepts and theories to each system. I spent 8+ years with AMD, starting as a process engineer before moving to group manager. I earned 4 patents related to advance semiconductor processing. I headed projects that saved the company $2 million annually in consumables. I logged 5+ years with Tokyo Seimitsu (Accretech), starting as product engineer and ending as technical marketing manager. I helped develop front-end semiconductor equipment, which doubled the company's annual revenue within 3 years. I have won numerous industry awards for those systems in the areas of process and innovation. I enjoyed 3+ years with Excico, starting as product manager and ending as director of marketing and product management. I helped grow the company from 10-man start-up to 100+ team. During that period, revenue peaked at 30+ million euro per year. I am working currently for Nordson in the MARCH division as director of marketing. It's only been 3 years, but have helped the company increase revenue by 20% year over year. The SPE GCS scholarship helped offset my tuition burden. The SPE scholarship, along with numerous others, allowed me to graduate college without any debt. My advice to students is do not be afraid to try different things outside of your field of study. An engineering degree, just like many other degrees, indicates your ability to independently learn and adapt. Use these abilities to take you where you want to be, not where you believe your degree dictates. Contact me at jonathan.doan@nordson.com
