Birlie holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering from LSU, is a licensed professional engineer in petroleum engineering in the state of Louisiana (#32123) and has worked for Chevron since graduation in 2000.  His career has given him the opportunity to work in multiple basins with hands-on field exposure (drilling, completions, production, reservoir), technology (iField, UWT, Digital OC), business strategy (BD, strategy & Planning) and leadership responsibilities.

“Feedback is a gift.” Feedback has always been an important tool to coach, grow, develop and correct others.  There have been many feedback models shared over time which promise to improve the feedback process, but why doesn’t feedback always feel like a gift?  The problem doesn’t seem to lie in the processes, rather, it seems to be based in the person’s motivations behind giving the feedback.  Based on his 21 years of professional experience, Birlie will share some of the common pitfalls that he’s seen in the way people approach feedback and some easy tests you can use to help you grow your feedback from good to great.
