Biography

SOUMYADEEP GHOSH is a Lead Reservoir Engineer in the Recovery Mechanisms and Mechanistic
Modeling Chapter in Chevron Technical Center. He has experience in delivering reservoir engineering
and simulation studies for efficient reservoir management across various asset classes (conventional,
heavy oil and unconventional/tight rock reservoirs). He has deep expertise in complex hydrocarbon
recovery mechanisms, enhanced oil recovery, waterflooding optimization, surveillance, and optimization.
Originally from India, Soumyadeep graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Technology
(specialization in Oils, Oleochemicals and Surfactants) from the Institute of Chemical Technology,
Mumbai, India. In 2015, he earned his Doctorate degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from
The Pennsylvania State University. He has authored several publications in conference proceedings and
peer-reviewed journals on surfactant science, thermodynamics, and fluid phase behavior studies in
petroleum systems.

He also serves as a technical reviewer for various SPE Journals and is currently the Chair of the Young
Professionals group in SPE’s gulf coast section. In recognition of his service and achievements,
Soumyadeep has been awarded the SPE Regional Reservoir Description and Dynamics Award, the SPE
Outstanding Technical Reviewer Award and the Promising Professional Award by Society of Asian
Scientists and Engineers (SASE).
