Description

This event has been cancelled.

The Petro-Tech Study Group (PTSG) was established many years ago by petroleum technologists (technicians) to network, communicate and exchange information and technological information pertinent to our industry.

The purpose of this panel is to revive an effort to collaboratively develop written guidelines for the development of core competencies required throughout a Petroleum Technician's career within the petroleum industry.  Technicians will then be able to utilize these guidelines, along with their managers, to craft development plans specific to the individual.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to share ideas and technology applications with an open floor discussion, resulting in renewed vigor and interest in their current and future job assignments.  The resulting guidelines will empower each technologist to take responsibility for their own development and career plan.

We will have a speaker who will open with a discussion of "Technologists are only as good as we allow them to be."  This discussion will help explore further possibilities and capabilities of the technologist role. We will form a committee to facilitate ongoing structuring and writing of the guidelines throughout the 2016-2017 GCS program year.

Please encourage others to support and attend this worthwhile effort by promoting this important event throughout your company.  The Petro-Tech Study Group intends to publish the career development guidelines so that your company may use them in preparing technologists for the future.
