The SPE Gulf Coast Section Emerging Engineers Symposium (EES) is an annual conference designed specifically for young professionals to provide a forum to explore topics that will shape and develop their careers. EES will feature technical and soft skills presentations, panel discussions, poster competition, and networking events. This year the EES will take place at ExxonMobil Campus in North Houston, on June 15, 2017. The theme this year is ‘Operational and Capital Efficiency in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry’ and our keynote speaker is William Thomas (President & CEO, EOG Resources Inc.). The lectures and panel sessions will focus on actions YPs can take to drive innovation and efficiency in operations and asset management strategies, providing essential tools for career development of young engineers. We expect to host about 250 attendees and 15 speakers at this event.

William R. "Bill" Thomas
Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, EOG Resources, Inc.
William R. "Bill" Thomas was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EOG Resources, Inc., in January 2014. Prior to that, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer from July through December 2013, and as President from September 2011 to July 2013. Mr. Thomas previously held other leadership positions at EOG, including Senior Executive Vice President, Exploitation and Senior Executive Vice President, Exploration. Mr. Thomas has been with EOG and its predecessor companies for 38 years.
Recognized for his technical expertise in shale oil development, he previously served as the General Manager of EOG’s Fort Worth, Texas, Midland, Texas and Corpus Christi, Texas offices, where he was instrumental in the successful identification, exploration, development and exploitation of various key resource plays. Mr. Thomas joined an EOG predecessor company in 1979 and held a number of technical positions including district geologist, senior exploration geologist and production geologist. He started his career as a district engineer at an oilfield services company.
TECHNICAL POSTER SESSION
The mission of the SPE-GCS Young Professionals board is to engage and develop the leadership potential of young oil and gas professionals to enable them to challenge and lead the industry. The New Technical e-Poster Competition at the 2017 Emerging Engineers Symposium does just that!
Emerging Engineers are encouraged to share their knowledge, ideas, expertise, innovations, practices, case studies, and vision, regardless of the progress, with other industry peers by submitting a poster abstract and an ePoster upon abstract selection.
Simply submit an abstract (Min 225 words, Max 450 words) describing the contents of the poster.
