Introduction to Reservoir Simulation
This course provides participants with an introduction to theoretical and practical concepts in reservoir simulation technology. Course participants will learn about the fundamentals of reservoir simulation, its main components, and how they are used in the development of a simulation study. The course is divided into four sections:
- Overview of reservoir modeling
- Reservoir simulation equations
- Reservoir simulation strategies
- Simulation model QA/QC and model interrogation
Closing remarks will include discussions on the value of reservoir simulation and future trends. During the course, students will execute various simulation cases using the OpenSim simulator via cloud-based computing as well as FocusRE/ResInsight to visualize and analyze simulation outputs.
