EES 2018 Highlights

 

The eleventh EES was held at Chevron downtown Houston on May 24th, 2018. The theme "Leading Digital Transformation" sparked the conversation among 150 young engineers to learn about new trends and adoption of technologies revolutionizing the oil and gas industry and how young professionals can lead the change. Case studies on emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, drones, block chain highlighted the importance of leveraging opportunities to create a positive step change in our industry. The audience engaged in the conversation and felt enlightened with the insights from the executive speakers.

 

The impressive speaker roster included 18 executives (CEOs, CInOs, CIOs, EVPs) from oil and gas operators (Chevron, Oxy, Conoco, Apache, Chesapeake), service (Schlumberger, Halliburton, Wood, Newfield), data analytics (SparkCognition), consulting (QRI, BCG, Accenture, Business Laboratories), technology (IBM, Quantum New Energy, Futuresight, FieldBit) and academia (University of Houston).

 

EES also featured two networking events: Lunch with Executives and Happy Hour. These activities provided participants with great opportunities to connect on a personal level with the speakers and other attendees. From post-event interactions, the organizers were informed at least five attendees found new job opportunities through contacts established at EES.

EES 2017 Highlights

 

In its tenth year, EES provided a technical overview of the industry, covering the latest innovations and applications, as well as networking opportunities to  382 young professionals. It was held on June 15th, 2017 at the ExxonMobil Campus in Spring, TX. In light of the market climate, that year’s theme was "Operational & Capital Efficiency in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry". Bill Thomas, the CEO of EOG Resources was our keynote speaker. Matt Gallagher, COO of Parsley Energy, David O’Conner, Head of Global Projects at BP, George King, Global Technology Engineering Advisor at Apache Corporation were a few of the distinguished speakers at EES 2017.

Energy industry leaders spoke on various elements of the upstream sector, topics varying from Big Data, Digitization, Capital efficiency, emerging technologies and more. They also discussed value adding strategies during downturns and how they survived and thrived in the industry. There were three panel sessions: Emerging Technologies in Upstream, Innovations and Entrepreneurship in Upstream, and Capital Efficiency & Digitization. All panels provided ample opportunities for attendees to ask questions.

EES 2016 Highlights

 

The 2016 edition of the Emerging Engineers Symposium hosted over 230 industry professionals on  June 23rd, 2016 for a full-day of technical and career development discussions at the ExxonMobil Campus in North Houston, Texas!

The symposium focused on the theme “Asset Management 2.0 – Driving Operational Efficiency in Challenging Environments”; in a quest to find new perspectives that can help young engineers improve the development of assets through application of new technologies, new operating models, and rigorous safety practices. The keynote session was addressed by Vicki Hollub, President and CEO of Occidental Petroleum Corporation, who shared her industry outlook and experience to guide the emerging engineers on how to positively contribute to our industry’s growth while driving their individual careers in the right direction. Lectures and panel sessions from 16 speakers opened the conversation on the development technical and managerial skills for young professionals, including emerging technologies, professional visibility, and networking.
