SPE Introduction to Technology Series - Deepwater Roadmap: Navigating Completions from Sandface to Interface

Exploring and producing in deep water has evolved into a challenging proposition. The ever-increasing demand to replace reserves is pushing operators to drill in deeper reservoirs and in deeper waters.  This extreme environment drives the industry to develop and execute new technologies at a record pace.  While deepwater completions are not new to the industry, there is a shortage of trained engineers with deepwater experience.  As the depth of these developments continues to increase, more young engineers will face a steep learning curve. With the big crew change in sight, experienced engineers and young engineers alike just arriving into deep water are quickly finding themselves without a clear roadmap.

This workshop will provide attendees with a roadmap of the unique challenges for engineering and executing completion projects in deep water.  It will also give attendees a basic framework for operating projects in deep water environments.
