Sects and the City

"Sects and the City” is an overview of how the relationships between energy companies and the computing world are changing and evolving.  The larger energy companies have historically worked as their own computing “sects” hiring computer gurus to develop proprietary software for everything from exploration to surveillance to data mapping.  In this new age and environment of computing software, is there really an advantage to "in-house" versus "off-the-shelf?"  Peter Smarda will tackle the philosophical questions surrounding the evolution of this part of our business.
