Drilling Study Group - Shell''s Early Experiences with Re-Development Programs in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico

Well construction problems caused by large pressure depletions in Shell's prolific Deepwater fields are much more severe than even the most problematic situations encountered during redevelopment of GOM shelf or onshore fields. This presentation will discuss some of the problems Shell has experienced in the re-development programs of the pioneering Auger and Mars GOM Deepwater fields (now having over a decade of production) and will discuss some of the technologies Shell is working with others in the industry to develop to help address some of the unique and severe problems being encountered.
