MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED - LNG risks - Assessing the consequences of terrorism threat

MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED

The methodologies for performing hazard assessment following a loss of containment of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) are fairly standardized for land-based facilities. However, there is disagreement, even amongst the experts, on the events following LNG spill on water. This presentation discusses sophisticated modeling techniques for analyzing consequences of LNG release on water. The results from such consequence modeling form the basis for assessing societal risks posed by LNG terminals and carriers. Therefore, it is extremely important to perform a detailed estimation of the hazard zones. This presentation will focus on advanced consequence analysis techniques for modeling LNG release from tankers on water. In addition, it will also discuss quantifying LNG hazards such as Rapid Phase Transitions (RPTs) and thermal radiation from fire.
