ELP 2006 5th Annual Roughneck Camp

The SPE-GCS Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) Committee is hosting the 5th Annual Roughneck Camp on Thursday, July 13th, 2006 in Houston, TX.  This conference will provide participants a unique opportunity to network with the next generation of petroleum professionals.  The purpose of the Roughneck Camp is to bring "new" technical professionals (new graduates, summer interns, and those with 5 years of industry experience) together for a day of networking, professional development, and fun while also providing an introduction to the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Industry representatives both young and experienced will be available to discuss and share with you: career goals, personal expectations on "life after college", and/or any other topic that you have in mind. During the afternoon, you will be provided with shirts, “goodie” bags, dinner, and all the fun and games you can handle!

Highlights of the event will include an introduction to SPE-GCS, and a speaker panel featuring young professionals from a wide variety of disciplines and backgrounds representing the many varied organizations of the petroleum industry including small independent, super independent, service, and major integrated companies. The final presentation of the event will be a keynote address by Ken Arnold, Senior Executive Vice President of AMEC Paragon and former CEO of Paragon Engineering Services. Ken will address the group on Key Lessons for a Satisfying Career in Engineering!

At the conclusion of the afternoon's exciting talks and presentations, a networking social will be held to provide campers an opportunity to unwind and mingle with industry representatives and fellow campers in a less formal setting.
