“How Do You Know Your Behavior Based Safety Process is Working?”

First, it should be clear that you are actually using a behavioral process. Are behavioral principles being used? If so, what are they and how do you know they are in place? Secondly, the purpose of implementing a behavioral process should be clear. This will help define what you expect to achieve. Once an expected outcome is established, measurement options can be considered. Measurements should be established to monitor BBS process effectiveness as well as measure the desired outcome. Finally, progress can be assessed by monitoring the measures over time. Examples of measures Halliburton has used will be given and some of their challenges discussed.
