Using Production Data to Characterize Reservoir and Completion Properties to Improve Completion & Well Spacing Economics

Completion Optimization and Well Spacing Optimization are the goal of every operator.

Many use “Big Data” and near wellbore tools to characterize how fractures grow and production is effected by changes in completion design.

However, there is a very significant capital cost that is involved in these methods and a large number of wells must be drilled and completed and produced before an answer may present itself.  Smaller operators do not have this luxury or deep pockets.

This talk will present some methods for characterizing the critical values of formation permeability, effective fracture half-length and number of producing fractures along a lateral so that both completion optimization and well spacing optimization are possible with a minimal amount of “free” data.
