SPE-GCS & AADE: American Oil & Gas 2023, a Forward View
Abstract:
The US and the world have embarked on what is often called the “Clean Energy Transition” to achieve a “Net Carbon Zero” energy supply objective. Looking at the current trends in US energy generation (including oil and gas production), a cost trends the data indicates the “Transition” will be costly and will require materials far above what the US can provide. In addition, significant continued (or increased!) oil and gas production will be required to sustain the US economy during any “transition”. The full “supply chain” from the ground the gas tank will be covered and the many challenges noted.
